Music & Audio Controls

The main audio playback interface of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is the Play Music app, but you can also use Samsung's own playback app, which is less visually appealing, but similar playback options. The Play Music app will allow you to play music in the background of all your other tasks, as well as stream music that you've uploaded to Google's servers, provided you have an internet connection.

If you're worried about the control interface, the same standard play/pause icon is there, as well as track forward/backward and a scrub bar. For advanced options, you can build playlists, set them to repeat or shuffle, and rate songs.

Music & Audio Management

Music can be managed by the Play Music app, which will allow you to either play music files that have been downloaded to your tablet, or stream your music from files you've uploaded onto Google's servers using their music uploader on your Mac or PC. Once this is accomplished, you can sift through your files either via a cover flow that you can flip through with your finger, or list format.

Music & Audio Battery Life

Like just about every other tablet we've ever reviewed, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 can play back music for over 24 hours straight, assuming there are no additional processes running in the background, and the screen is allowed to turn itself off. While you're not likely to use the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 strictly as an MP3 player, it's nice to know that playing audio does not draw much power.
